Automobiles in Germany's Town Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police mentioned they were contacted by a individual who noticed a car in Hanau marked with red-colored substance

Around fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Vehicles, walls and postboxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.

Officers state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.

The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.

Police then discovered multiple other marked cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Police state initial examinations show the substance was likely human blood.

"Currently there is no clue as to its source; investigators are currently not informed of any harm in relation with the event," they stated.

Municipal representatives stated they were working "to solve the incident" and have asked to the community for tips.

A senior representative commented the incident rendered him speechless and had to be resolved rapidly.

"This incident affects the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, referring to the murder of nine people by a shooter aiming at individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
