The tally of victims resulting from the transport jet which burst into flames and crashed has now reached 13, according to official statements.
Mayor's Announcement
While en route to the Union’s vigil, I received word of a thirteenth victim that died as a result of the plane accident,” wrote the city mayor in a social media post. “My thoughts is with the families, companions and co-workers of all who were killed in this recently occurred tragedy. We will endure this as one.”
Victims Confirmed
A statement from the carrier named the officers operating the aircraft as Pilot Richard Wartenberg, Co-pilot Lee Truitt, and Relief Captain Dana Diamond.
“Our hearts are extended to all employee who has been impacted and everyone in our Louisville community – supporting you and guaranteeing you get the care and resources you need is our priority,” the firm’s message stated.
Probe Updates
Federal investigators announced that the freight aircraft’s left wing caught fire and an power plant fell off just after liftoff from the aviation hub, causing the plane to fall and burst into a blaze.
The safety agency stated it is examining the aircraft’s service record, which was in Texas for maintenance several weeks ahead of the incident.
Flight tracking records revealed the aircraft was on the runway in that location from the start of last month to 18 October.
“We are cognizant that this aircraft was there in San Antonio,” remarked an official on the following day, not giving a precise time frame. “We will examine every piece of service that was done, including the Texas period, right up to the time of the flight.”
Findings of Critical Components
The audio device and information unit were found, and the engine was discovered on the runway.
The units – known as data containers – were built to survive crash impacts and intense fire from fires, and they seemed to be undamaged when located within the crash debris. Officials intend to reviewing recordings from the black boxes.
Jet’s last data recordings showed an elevation of 475 ft and a rate of 210 miles per hour ahead of the crash.
Service Background
Based on FAA records dated that date, a fissure on a structural piece in the tank area required fixes.
Singapore-based ST Engineering, which indicated it offers aircraft servicing for the company’s jet and manages a repair facility in Texas, chose not to comment, but said it would cooperate fully when officials contacted it.
Activities Resume
Meanwhile, UPS Worldport activities restarted Wednesday night with its Next Day Air or evening process, spokesperson Jim Mayer stated. All three tarmacs at the airport were also reopened.
The UPS package handling facility in Louisville is the company’s most significant. The hub engages more than 20,000 workers in the region, manages 300 flights per day and organizes over a huge volume of packages each hour.
Local Reaction
A candlelight vigil was held on the night of 6 November by the area labor union, which acts for staff at the Louisville airport, the company’s biggest shipping facility.
The union chapter, which stands for UPS workers, started the memorial with a period of reflection at that time, the approximate moment of the accident two days earlier.
“This incident was so abrupt, so surprising,” the mayor addressed the crowd of two hundred. “No one had a chance to say goodbye to each of those who we have lost.”
